SLMarket Ecosystem
Marketplace + SLMarket Flow POS/ERP
A multilingual marketplace connecting buyers and sellers across Sri Lanka, plus SLMarket Flow, a real-time POS with ERP features. Designed, built and launched solo.
SLMarket
Two products designed, built and launched solo: a marketplace and a real-time POS/ERP.
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
- PostgreSQL
- Prisma
- Redis
The problem
Buyers and sellers across Sri Lanka needed one place to trade online, in the language they are most comfortable with. Sellers also needed a simple way to run the shop floor: taking sales, tracking stock and keeping records, without stitching together separate tools.
My role
I designed, built and launched both products solo: product scope, architecture, database design, frontend, backend, testing, CI/CD and deployment.
Stack
Marketplace
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
- PostgreSQL
- Prisma
- Redis
- Cloudinary
- GitHub Actions
- Vercel
SLMarket Flow (POS/ERP)
- Laravel
- Vue.js
- Inertia.js
- MySQL
- GitHub Actions
- cPanel
Architecture
The ecosystem is two independent applications. The marketplace is a Next.js and TypeScript app on PostgreSQL (through Prisma), with Redis for caching and Cloudinary for media, deployed on Vercel. SLMarket Flow is a Laravel, Vue.js and Inertia.js app on MySQL, deployed on cPanel. Both ship through GitHub Actions.
Key technical decisions
- Two stacks, one job each. The marketplace is a public, SEO-sensitive Next.js app on Vercel; Flow is an authenticated back-office tool where Laravel and Inertia.js keep forms and CRUD screens fast to build.
- TypeScript and Prisma on the marketplace for type safety from the database schema to the UI.
- PostgreSQL with an optimised relational schema for listings, sellers and orders, and Redis caching on hot paths.
- Authentication and role-based authorisation on both products, with end-to-end order workflows.
- Locale-based routing and content translation for a multi-language audience.
- Unit and integration tests on core marketplace flows, run by GitHub Actions before every release.
Result
Both products are live: a multilingual marketplace at slmarket.lk and SLMarket Flow, a real-time POS with ERP features, at flow.slmarket.lk. Releases for both are automated through CI/CD.
